Pick'Em

How does Dabble Pick Em work?

Pick'Em is a new betting format where you are offerred a fixed payout on player prop multis. Discover how it works in this blog.

Dabble Pick’em is a fixed odds player prop betting format and it’s the first of its kind in Australia. This format of betting is super popular in American with platforms like Prizepicks and Underdog.

The Basics: What Are Pick’em Bets?

At its core, a Pick’em bet challenges you to predict whether specific players will achieve Less or More than a given statistical projection (like points scored, assists, rebounds, etc.). Each player you choose is known as a leg, and the overall bet’s potential payout increases with each added leg.

There are two main types of Pick’em bets:

  • All-In Bets

  • Hedge Bets

All-In Pick’em Bets

  • Selection Process: You choose between 2 and 12 players (legs) and decide if each will perform under or over a set statistic projection. For example:

    • Leg 1: Nikola Jokić – 32.5 Points (Less/More)

    • Leg 2: Luka Dončić – 29.5 Points (Less/More)

  • Multiplier Rewards: Each additional leg increases your potential payout according to a preset multiplier table. For instance:

  • Winning Conditions: To win an All-In bet, every single leg must win. If even one leg loses, the entire bet is lost.

Special Considerations:

  • Voided Legs: If a player doesn’t participate in the game, that leg is voided and removed from your bet.

  • Injured players: If a player gets injured the bet will still stand as Dabble are offering props for the under market

Hedge Pick’em Bets

For those who prefer a bit of a safety net, Hedge bets allow for some misses while still offering a payout—albeit at a lower multiplier.

Hedge bets require a minimum of 3 legs. They offer different multipliers depending on how many legs win as well as still pay out winners even if not all legs win. To understand the payouts, review the table below:

  • Adjustments for Voids/Ties: Just like All-In bets, if any leg is voided or tied, the total number of legs—and the corresponding multiplier—will be adjusted. For instance, a 12-leg Hedge with one tied leg becomes an 11-leg Hedge bet.

  • Losing Conditions: If too many legs lose (beyond what the multiplier table allows), the bet is considered a loss. The rules are clear: if the number of losing legs exceeds the threshold for the specific Hedge bet configuration, the whole wager falls short.

The upside of the hedge is that you do not need every leg to win to make back some money. However, if all legs win, your payout will be significantly smaller

General Pick’em Rules

To keep the game fair and competitive, there are some additional guidelines:

  • Team Diversity: You must select players from at least two opposing teams.

  • Single Statistic Rule: Only one statistical category per player per bet is allowed.

  • Participation Matters:

    • If a player does not play at all, that leg is voided.

    • If the player participates but doesn’t record any statistics, the leg still stands.

  • Official Results: Outcomes are determined using the official statistics provided by the governing body. If there’s any discrepancy, the market will be settled only after consulting the relevant authorities.

  • Event Abandonment: If an event is abandoned after some legs have been decided, the results for the completed legs will stand.

  • No Combination with Other Bets: Pick’em bets cannot be combined with other fixed odds sports or racing bets.

  • Void Scenarios: If all players from one team are voided, the entire bet is void because it no longer meets the requirement of featuring players from at least two opposing teams.

How can you beat Pick’Em

The fixed payout platforms in the US are incredibly succesful. We know this because they are offering a super friendly product for the retail punter. It is super easy to pick over and/or under legs and see a huge payout. By multiplying individual events together you are always giving the bookmaker more edge.

However, that is for the average punter. Due to the way this product is built, it actually provides the smart punter with a ton of EV. We have put together a complete guide explaining the maths behind Pick'Em and how you can beat it.
